We aren’t made to do life alone. None of us can. Our heavenly Father designed our spirits in such a way that we long for community with Him and with others. So at our CORE, we were made for relationship. Faith starts at home, and our youth ministry seeks to supplement that growth through building out community even further.

downtown youth
During the summer, we have a lot of big youth group activities. During the school year, we emphasize our C.O.R.E. Groups. Led by 3 to 5 adult leaders with 20 to 30 guys or girls per group, we have junior high guys, junior high girls, two high school guys’ groups, and three high school girls’ groups mixed among grades and schools. While we do a lot as an entire group too, these CORE groups meet on Wednesday nights and one other time during the week. They are crucial to going deeper in our spiritual walk and provide more mentoring opportunities amongst students and with trusted adult volunteers.

Wilderness Trek
Push yourself to new heights both physically and spiritually in the Colorado Rockies every other summer.
Impact - Houston
Each summer we partner with the Impact Church to host a VBS and reading program for the children in the city.
Mid-South Girls Conference
We take our 7-12 grade girls to Memphis each January for fun, fellowship, and worship!
Winterfest
In February we load up the busses and head to Gatlinburg, TN to worship alongside hundreds of other teens.
Back-to-School Retreat
When it’s time to go back to school, we get away for a weekend to reflect on the summer.
30-Hour Famine
In April we fast for 30 hours and do activities to help us better understand poverty in our world.

Hi, I’m Marcus! I’ve been in Youth Ministry since 2004 and at Downtown since 2013. I also have a background in Theatre and Visual Storytelling. I love connecting people with Jesus, the master storyteller and the center of ours.

We get it! Raising kids and helping them grow isn’t easy. And unfortunately, there’s not a “parenting handbook” that explains everything.
