The Downtown Church of Christ is a Spirit-filled community of followers called to be the W.O.R.D. Made Flesh - Worshipful, Obedient, Relational, Disciple-makers. Position: Preaching & Pastoral Ministry Apprenticeship
Timeframe: Fall ‘26 & Spring ‘27

This position is designed for Juniors or Seniors who love the Lord, have a heart for ministry in a local Church, are wanting to pursue full-time ministry (in its various forms), and are looking for exposure to a wide range of experiences with the local church.

This position would take place in the Fall & Spring semesters of the 2026-2027 school year. Each semester, the candidate would present 3-4 full length sermons during both Sunday morning services in coordination with the Lead Minister as part of the theme for the year.

The Apprentice would also be expected to participate in weekly check-ins with the Lead Minister and have the opportunity to attend weekly ministry staff meetings (Tuesdays from 11:30am-1pm) and weekly Shepherd meetings (Wednesdays from 5:00pm-6:30pm).

With this position, you can expect a minimum of 10 hours a week which will include regular office hours to be available to the other ministry staff and to work on upcoming sermons. A portion of this time will also involve pastoral work outside the office with Downtown members, as well as community partners (like the Searcy Ministerial Alliance) and various non-profits. Pay will be negotiated in interviews and will be competitive with similar opportunities and in accordance with Downtown’s Apprentice & Internship Program.
