Downtown Church
our vision is to be the
W.O.R.D. Made Flesh
job description
Creative Media (a ministry of the Downtown Church) seeks to create media that connects our congregation, invites our community, points to Christ, and reflects the W.O.R.D. Made Flesh. We believe that student interns have both talent & ideas that can help us fulfill that vision.
Vision: To be the W.O.R.D. Made Flesh. To be Worshipful, Obedient, Relational, Disciple-Makers
Position: Graphic Design Intern
Timeframe: Fall ‘26 - Spring ‘27
As a Graphic Design Intern, you'll be responsible for creating many of the graphics, handouts, resources, and other pieces of media that we use on a weekly basis help further the work of the Downtown Church. Creative Media also helps create resources and materials for community partnerships (like the Searcy Ministerial Alliance) that Downtown has the honor of supporting/partnering with. Depending on the time of the year, and the needs of the church, projects can range from graphic packages for special worship services or sermon series, curriculum for Children’s Ministry, policy or procedure guides, packages for events or content for The Church Resource Hub.
At Downtown, we strive to create most of our creative media pieces from scratch. While this is more challenging, we believe this is beneficial for two main reasons:
It provides you with the opportunity to grow your skills and gain professional experience.
Because the content is created from scratch, we own 100% of the intellectual property, allowing us to give it away for free for other churches to use.
During your time as an intern, you’ll have access to a church provided computer (Mac) equipped with the full Adobe Suite of software. You’ll also have access to a wide variety of stock media libraries to aid you in your work. All projects you work on during your internship can be included in your portfolio and may also fulfill specific class projects as well. Students should have an understanding of Illustrator, Photoshop, & InDesign and have completed introductory level Graphic Design classes (or have the equivalent experience if not a Graphic Design major). You will be asked to submit a simple portfolio as part of the application so we can see examples of your previous work.
With this position, you can expect about 5-10 hours of work a week. Exact hours are flexible and will be negotiated during interviews. Pay will also be negotiated in interviews and will be in accordance with Downtown’s Apprentice & Internship Program.
We will have a retreat to kick off the semester. Unless negotiated before hiring, we ask all interns to be in attendance for the full duration of the retreat. More information about the retreat will be provided during interviews.
