- Shepherd Affirmation/Reaffirmation - Every three years the Downtown church family conducts a shepherd affirmation/reaffirmation process to select new shepherds and reaffirm current shepherds that desire to continue serving. The congregation is encouraged to spend time in prayer during this process asking God to be with those men being called out to serve our church family.
- From now through Sunday, May 11, the final affirmation of shepherd nominees and reaffirmation of current shepherds will be given by the Downtown church family. Please print this Affirmation/Reaffirmation selection form. Envelopes and affirmation form boxes are located on the tables at the FLC double doors, church office hallway, children’s wing lobby and hallway behind the auditorium. Members should complete their selection form, place the unsigned form in an envelope and write their name on the outside of the envelope only. This ensures the confidentiality of selections. Sealed envelopes can then be placed in one of the affirmation boxes. All affirmation responses must be in writing. Evaluation forms will be accepted until 6 p.m., on Sunday, May 11. It is important that every member of the congregation participate in this portion of the process. On Sunday, May 18, those receiving 70% confirmation of the yes or no selections will be presented to the congregation during our morning worship assemblies.
- The following three men have accepted their nomination: Curt Baker, Ross Cochran, & Gary Stephenson, and will enter the affirmation phase of the process. Current Downtown Shepherd, Bobby Churchman, has chosen not to be reaffirmed as a shepherd at this time. Bobby will soon begin doctoral work in accounting which will require an extensive amount of time and travel.
- Each of the nominees seeking to be affirmed and the current shepherds seeking reaffirmation has submitted an “introspection questionnaire” for review by Downtown members. Copies of the introspection questionnaires are available in the church library and office.

- SERMONS NOW ONLINE! - We now have our sermons on the website. You can get to the page from the "Resources" menu or from the link in the middle of the home page. The sermons are provided in two formats: streaming (hit play and it immediately starts playing) and MP3 files (for downloading to burn on a CD or put on an ipod). We will have the most recent two months of sermons on the site, then keep only very special sermons in the "archive" list.
- High School Senior Appreciation - We’re so excited about honoring our seniors at Senior Appreciation May 11. Everyone is invited to come join in our celebration. There will be a devotional in the auditorium at 5 p.m. with the dinner following in the FLC at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $4 per adult and $3 per child 12 and under. Seniors and their parents are free. Please plan to be a part of this exciting night.
