Facilities Update

Pictures of Progress

03/27/08 Update -

  1. Parking lot - The South parking lot drawings are complete and the costs have come in very close to what was expected. We expect a contract to be signed early next week and construction to start soon after.
  2. FLC Addition - The FLC addition structural drawings were approved by the Construction Committee four weeks ago. A supplier has been chosen for the steel package and they are working on their drawings to actually produce the steel package. The drawings for the kitchen, baths, dishwashing area, and storage facilities were approved this week and have been moved to the bid stage.
  3. Target date - Our target date for completion of the FLC is still in September but that timeframe is a very aggressive goal.

Please keep the Construction Team in your prayers as they strive to make decisions concerning these projects and feel free to stop any of them with thoughts or questions.

03/03/08 Update -

  1. Parking lot - the details on the parking lot pretty much done. Need to add lights, etc. Would like to sign the contract for the South parking lot in a couple of weeks and get this started. Cost will be about $330,000 for the South parking lot and price will be locked in when we get started. Most of the pecan trees will have to go. Might be able to save a couple. There will be some trees replanted in the parking lot.
  2. Steel - We also got the bid in for the steel. There were five bids on the steel and the low bid got the job. The shop drawings are being done on the steel and will be released in about 4 weeks. This is the first step in ordering the steel. The steel will be ordered when the shop drawings are completed.
  3. Kitchen - We are pretty much final on everything but the kitchen. We are waiting for some further details on the kitchen but have allocated $75,000 for that improvement.
  4. Target date - the 1st of October is the target date for getting into the FLC with the expansion.

01/25/08 Update - The following is a summary of the planned improvements to the Downtown Church of Christ facilities and grounds in regard to financing to be obtained in the spring or early summer of 2008. This project has been referred to and is known as “Phase I” by those involved in the project.

This project has two primary components within which I will also note some of the other specific improvement.

This concludes the list of projects for Phase I of our Construction Plan at Downtown. Thanks, John Q Hite IV

02-22-2007 Update on Construction plans The architect has been meeting with contractors to estimate the cost and phasing of the project. The construction team and architect have continued working very closely together. The process at this stage will save time and money in the long run, as changes once construction has started can increase costs significantly. An estimate of costs is expected in the next few weeks.

Have a look at the Master Plan designed for Downtown by Hoffmann Architectural! These plans were presented to the Shepherds and in Sunday morning classes at the end of 2006 and beginning of 2007.

This is a glimpse at the direction Downtown can go with the property we currently have. The current structures are in dark yellow. Possible future structures are in light yellow. Traffic flow, where people can walk, is in blue, with dark blue actually being enclosed and lighter blue being possibly simply covered.

A new auditorium would be to the North of the current structure, placing it in the middle of our current property. Parking would be added over time as needed.

Warning: This is a Master Plan, not a final architectural rendering. Many details and several big decisions still need to be made.
